Keep your arms covered.
I LOVE to be on the water. I have a boat, kayak, sailboat, whaler motorboat— when I’m out on it, I am sure to wear my SporTobin wicking long sleeve top with thumbholes to keep the sun off me. They work like rash guards. Since the fabric is protecting my skin, I notice I don’t sweat as I normally would if I arms were bare. The fabric dries really quickly and keeps me cool and comfy!

Become a hat-person.
Wear really big, wide-brimmed hats to keep the sun off your face. It will also keep your head cool. It’s a way of bringing the shade with you wherever you go.

Wear shorts.
I always wear my loose-fitting black walking shorts in the heat. They dry quickly when I get splashed and are very comfortable, I’ve sold over 50,000 pairs of these shorts to women and men. They like to where them when they do the breast cancer walks in very hot places like Arizona, Texas, and Florida.

HYDRATE.
It can’t be said enough. If you are tired of water, try seltzer. I drink them both to stay hydrated.

What are you eating?
When it’s hot, create meals around watermelon and other fresh fruits. Keep the meals smaller too. I usually keep grilled chicken ready to use in salads or with my son. He likes it alone with cut up veggies for dinner.

Keep your house cool.
Put the shades down and close your windows before you go off to work in the morning. When the sun goes down and you come home again, open up the windows! At this point in the day, things should be cooler. This is especially helpful if you live in a place without air conditioning.

Can you believe it’s almost May? With Cinco de Mayo around the corner, I wanted to share my tips for making the holiday less guilty and more good-eatin’! Plain and simple: you don’t need to pack on the calories.

Take advantage of the high-quality spices that are out there for you – chili spices, cilantro, etc. You can really add kick and taste without loading on toppings if you use your seasonings correctly.

Opt for low-fat cheeses! If you’re making fancy nachos, you don’t need the cheeses saturated with fat, calories, and carbs. Healthy options are out there for you and available, often times, for the same price as their fattening cheesy counterparts.

Don’t fry your veggies – grill them (same goes for chicken if it is included in any recipes you may be using). Grilled vegetables tend to taste better anyway. Great vegetables to shoot for (for their great taste + health perks) include avocados, farm-fresh tomatoes and bell peppers!

For healthy choices, I recommend checking out Health.com’s latest article – they share a bunch of recipes to help you avoid what they call a DIET DISASTER. Click here.
